SPECIAL NOTICE
|
This notice is for one of our own Billy Palladino, Staples H.S. graduate, class of 1968. He was diagnosed with throat cancer in November of 2009 and has been hospitalized since Feb. 6, when complications from throat cancer surgery in November robbed him of his ability to speak. He had an operation where they removed his epiglottis, the flap that covers the trachea during swallowing so that food does not enter the lungs. He had a Tracheotomy and now is unable to speak. He is presently in Danbury Hospital and is receiving Chemotherapy and Radiation and hoping to go home soon.
With all this going on for Bill, another tragedy struck his family. His wife, Janice Ann McClenathan Palladino, age 45, passed away from a massive heart attack on February 11, 2010 at her home in Sandy Hook, CT. She was also a Staples High School Graduate, class of 1983. Not only did his wife meticulously prepare meals that were injected through the feeding tube Bill had implanted after his surgery and monitor his medications, her full-time job at a small manufacturing company in Oxford provided the health insurance that covered the bulk of his medical bills.
Now there is no income for family and they don't know how long the insurance from Janice's job will cover Billy's medical bills. They have 2 daughters, Michelle and Sarah Palladino who are both in college.
We want to let you know that a trust fund has been set up for Billy and his family at:
Newtown Savings Bank
30 Main Street
Danbury CT 06810
Phone: (203) 205-0080
For those of you that want to contact him or send get well cards to, his home contact information is:
Bill Palladino
7 Overlook Knoll
Sandy Hook CT 06482
(203) 426-8960
Here are some links for more information:
Article on Billy in the Danbury News Times, Feb. 21, 2010.
Obituary from the Westport News on Janice Ann McClenathan Palladino.
Please help out where you can. Collectively we can all make a difference for Billy and his family, no matter what the $ amount is. Words of support are also needed if you can't make a donation during these hard times.
Thank you, Shelby Goodlett Pike

STAPLES PLAYERS REUNION May 24, 2009
Greetings Staples Players alumni and friends of Staples Players!
As you may or may not know, 2009 marks Staples Players' 50th birthday! We are excited to announce a special event we are planning to celebrate this great organization and bring together as many Staples Players alums as possible. We hope you will mark your calendar and save the date of Sunday, May 24th, 2009. This is the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, which we chose so that people would take advantage of the long weekend and come to Westport. The event will take place at Staples and will feature musical numbers, stories, photos and video from past Players productions.
Please email StaplesPlayers50@gmail.com if you are interested in hearing more about this event – how to get tickets, get involved, etc. Please include your graduation year, email address, what shows you were involved with and what role you had in those shows (tech, pit, cast – if so, what roles played).
We will offer more information about this exciting event in coming weeks – for now, we hope that you forward this message on to your high school friends and start to make your travel plans. Please see below for how you can help us.
We are very much looking forward to this exciting event – help us spread the word!
Happy New Year, Staples Players
Things we are interested in hearing from you – please respond if there is anything you can help with:
-Do you have a particularly funny and/or touching anecdote about your time in Players that you would like to share? If so, please email StaplesPlayers50@gmail.com. We are looking for some people to share stories during the celebration.
-Do you have a sibling that was also in Players that might be able to attend the event with you? We are looking to put together a number in the show celebrating siblings involved with Players and would like to include as many people as possible. Please note that this includes actors, pit and tech.
-Do you have photos or videos of past Players productions to share with us? If so, please email KerryLongPhoto@gmail.com. We are not only interested in possibly featuring them in the celebration but copying them (including transferring videos to DVD) to keep in the Staples Players archives.
-Are you currently a performer or involved in the arts?

Maybe you've already heard that we've pulled together an informal gathering for Staples 77 classmates this summer. If you're going to be in the area or can finesse a trip to Westport for the weekend, join us on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 8pm to see the Dave Mason Band perform at Levitt Pavilion in Westport. Lawn tickets are $50. All you need to do is contact the Levitt Pavilion at 203-226-7600 to order your tickets before August 18th. Be sure to mention you're part of the Staples 77 group. (And not that you need an added incentive, but 50% of your ticket price is tax deductible.) More details will be posted on -link- in the coming weeks. Hope to see a lot of you in August!

We at Westporters.com just wanted to let you know that we've added a new feature which makes it very easy to communicate with your graduating class at Staples.
Now when you post on the bulletin board for your graduating class, the entry is sent by email to everyone from your graduating class whose profile is set to receive such messages. You can also post on the bulletin board of any other graduating class at Staples.
This should make it fast and easy to let others know important information, to request information from others, or to set up reunions or other activities.
We hope this new feature will be helpful to you.
Regards,
