My deepest apologies to class of '70 as I had hoped to be at recent reunion, but am somewhat over whelmed by single parenting. I thought it would be easy with my youngest at age 17 - wrong answer. Please come to Austin. Contact info on my profile and on facebook.

Hi Class of '70, the reunion is set for August 13-15! But, we need your help to find about half of the class that we have no email address or other info to contact them. Please help by looking at the list at -link- and if there is a name you know, urge them to register on the class web site -link- . Or you can send their email info directly to me and I will load the info. And please register yourself on the web site and reserve your attendance at the reunion site -link- so we can generate a head count and pay the deposit. Have a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year. I look forward seeing most of you at our August reunion! God Bless.

Hello, Marley. I didn't know you, as I moved to CT summer of my junior year, and spent only one year at Staples. However, I can commiserate. I spent the entire summer mending a broken tibial plateau--no pins or plates, but, never the less, was not able to start weight bearning till the end of September. Getting old, indeed!

I haven't logged on here in forever but I do find it a much easier and pleasing venue than FB. I am sorry to hear of your loss Jeffrey Rahn.
In Sept/Oct my husband and I had a 25th anniversary trip to Italy and although we were in close proximity, I did not meet up with Mr. Bruce Fernie, dommagio (sp?).
I am laid up at home with a broken foot, steel plates and pins, thus have time to pay attention to email I have ignored for months. Just hoping to be able to walk well again, let alone dance at the reunion thankfully I have lots of P.T. time before then. This aging thing

As many of the class of '70 were close to me because they started at Staples the day I entered as a junior, and I was closer to them than folks from my class, I want to pass on to all of you that my precious wife beyond compare died 7/31/09.
Keep me and our four children in your prayers.

Posts of Class 1970 are still faithfully arriving in my email box. Thanks Elizabeth, for letting me know that the site and notifications are still working. At the risk of sounding a wee bit promotional here, I must say that I do prefer these boards with a more dedicated purpose, as well as higher security. It saves me a lot of time to do other things, which also are important. Nice to touch base. Take care.

I am reminded of those Fairfield County parties of 1968 - 1970, when the host was kind enough to provide a venue and sustenance, and guests became invaders and destroyers, trashed the house, and feebly staggered off, stoned with the poison of self-obsession into to their isolated, wee hour oblivion.
For those already too engorged with words to digest meaning from any more, here it is in sound and light:
-link-
Enjoy.

Ah, I see, is Marly in the "blue" dress to your/our right? Or is she in the dark dress to your/our left? I put "blue" in quotes because I'm colorblind and I want to shortcut the many strange conversation I often have with people when I'm trying to point out the blue this or that and they go, "Whaaa?" I disagree with your personal self assessment, but I thought honeymoons were EXPRESSLY FOR getting a little "chunky." Isn't it from eating all that honey dripping from the moon into your eventide drinks?

MARY BRAVO! My Cameron was on his high school golf team, was co-capt but NEVER did that well! Great Job, Andrew.
I am frozen at between 36 and 42. No idea why, really. Sort of was in full bloom by then, yet not decrepit. Was surely most secure during those years.

Bamboo has been very very bad for me not in my current house - do not plant bamboo unless you can let it take over! Of course I live in the tropics.
Lowe's and Home Depot have sold the chinese sheetrock. I was being so New Orleanscentric that I forgot that other people use sheetrock around the USA so make sure you check before you buy any.
COSTUMES I love costumes, New Orleans loves costumes all of us have either a closet for costumes, or boxes of them. While I don't have a hoop/hooped skirt I have many costumes and many photos. ChouChou I think you'd fit in well here.
Have people been getting the shingles vaccine? For awhile when it was new health insurance was not paying for it but I hear that some are now I need to go get it as I have heard how miserable it is.

Hi Joanne.
NEVER ever NEVER burn poison ivy. My mum got it in her lungs doing that once. It was HORRIBLE. The iris need to be seperated if they used to bloom but don't anymore. Some, like Siberian really need lots of water. Other's ( bearded) dont. Fuschia wants shade. mmostly shade and to be kept moist. Sounds like a great cocktail. I pour boiling water on the weeds in my garden path gravel. Works like a charm.
Peter, When I inquired, they said we aren't sposed to get that Vac for shingles till we are 60. Unsure why maybe supply is low?

Thanks for all the gardening tips but what about poison ivy? Annie, I've too heard about certain breeds of goats but where can one rent-a-goat for a day? I don't want to use Weed-B-Gone or Round-up because don't want to kill all those micro-organisims (thanks Marly -- now I know why I love to garden!) or to kill the earthworms. A friend of mine told me about a lethal cocktail of vinegar, salt and detergent -- anyone tried that. And what about pachysandra that has run wild?
And thanks to Emily and Tom about native plant species -- I've always been perplexed by the conundrum of native plants in the "garden" -- asters, bluettes, sourgrass etc.
Any hints on fuschia? It seems to thrive everywhere in Irland and I always seem to kill it. Also, iris -- why don't they bloom?
Let me know any ideas thanks!

...and don't stick yourself with the needle!
Thanks, Cindy, I can relax now. I sort of liked the Italian pronunciation, but
Okay, a brief word on shingles, since we're getting old. Don't get them! There is a vaccine out now for it. If you do get it, I'm TOLD, but have no personal experience with it, that red wine vinegar applied to the rash will make it go away in short-ish order.
I took anti-virals, Valtrex, which cut the BIG pain way down, but not the small, but substantial and persistent, discomfort. I still get small flare-ups some months later. For some, it persists for years.
Also, it can come back...
Also, also, you are contagious for kids who haven't had the chicken pox yet. That's what shingles are: the herpes zoster virus reborn in a new form.

Anne - You're injecting it directly into the stem with a hyperdermic needle - not spraying. Cut the stem and then inject it directly inside. Kids and dogs shouldn't be affected because it's not exposed to the atmosphere. You know it's doing the job as the ivy leaves/bamboo stalks wilt or don't grow. Wear gloves of course for yourself.

Annie, what about the spelling and pronunciation of your name--these are the IMPORTANT questions!
Chou, I'm learning the fife. Do you like me more now? Know a guy named Ed Boyle by any chance? I'm learning from him long distance.
When beagles start barking for miles around, I'll know I've arrived. I can already more or less play three octaves.
My 1.5 months with shingles threw me off my pace to perfection, however.

Mary, if you plant bamboo, put it in a metal watering container used for livestock. They are usually very large, and oval in shape. You can bury them in the ground add a few holes, and then plant the bamboo, this will contain them. Also, if you can try to find BLACK Bamboo, it is not as invasive.
Peter, Everything you have read to dates is correct. Ivy, requires complete removal. You could try goats, as could Emily for her invasive plants.
Not sure about Charles idea. Never tried it. Charles is that save around kids and pets?
Chou love the outfit. Very charming.

Dale, You look magnificent in your gown. Such a beautiful and ornate dress and appointments. I'm just a poor "camp follower." Wait, am I too old to be a camp follower? SIGH. I've been a school marm too. I am INFORMALLY attached to the Sudburu Ancient and Honorable(s)? I can't play a note, but after serving hundreds of people in jeans and a T-shirt, ( serving , as a friend, the hundreds of people who walk and March to the muster at the Wayside Inn) I broke down and had a dress made. It is incredible how everything laces up. Ladies had the same dresses for before, during and after their pregnancies. Not wearing undies was far LESS secretly exciting than I had expected. I sleep in my chemise on occasion. Tell me more about your experiences? How did you start, etc. etc.

Charlie, Your advice is SO helpful. Peter may benefit from the poison more than I. Well, I don't mean Peter, I meant his invasives. *Wink*.
Am I the only person on earth who doesn't even have "Word"? I do NO word-prosessing by computer. Thank yous are handwritten SNAIL MAIL. I just no longer have any need to. Well, until today your advise.
MARY OMG DO NOT PLANT BAMBOO. PERIOD. DANGER! Even Compo Beach would be a forest of it within months. It's akin to botanical terrorism.
Cindy, I VERY SADLY think Eric is having a little time out. I have NO idea why, but I believe his word games became too much for the site to bear. I got a brief note from him earlier.
