Hello all, I have been looking for where Madé (Madeline) Banquer is. Those that knew her after graduation might have know her married name, Markons. Her sister Marion graduated in '71 and brother Steve in '66. I see from this site that Steve passed away, but it does not say when or how. I last saw Madé when we lived in Paris in '72. Any information about the Banquers would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, everyone. Recently, Tom Allen connected with me and, over a couple of months, were able to share alot of great memories from Staples.
With 2 grown children, 4 beautiful grandchildren and a continuing career from SNET to management consulting across the country my wife Jeannie and I now live on Cape Cod. I would love to hear more from others in our class and want to hear about upcoming get togethers.

Hello all. Coming up to Connecticut in July just wasn't in the cards. Sorry to miss you all, but I did have a cold beer down here in North Carolina probably at about the same time you all did! Maybe next time.
Sorry to hear the news about about Elaine.

MICHELE POMMIER TO RECEIVE THE 2009 FREC LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The Film, Recording and Entertainment Council will honor Michele Pommier with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2009 Star Gala
Miami, Florida (May 15, 2009) -- Michele Pommier has been named the Film, Recording and Entertainment Council’s Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree. Ms. Pommier will receive the honor at the annual FREC Star Gala to be held on November 14, 2009 at the Miccosukee Resort and Gaming in sunny South Florida.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to individuals who made outstanding contributions to the betterment of their community and had an economical impact in the development of South Florida in their life. In order to be eligible, candidates must have made innovative contributions in their industry and community which have an impact on the way South Florida’s entertainment industry develops; putting Miami on the map.
Past recipients have been Music Industry Icon Mel Haber, Distinguished Film Director William Grefe, and Legendary Producer Jonathan D. Krane.
Into this morass stepped Michele Pommier, a supermodel turned entrepreneur. Pommier took one look at all that the fleeing youngsters waved away – the sunshine, the palm trees, that ocean – and saw opportunity. She envisioned a future where others saw a void.
This Westport, Connecticut native was one of the most recognized models in the '70s. She started out with the esteemed Ford agency in New York City. Later, having accomplished as a model what she wanted to accomplish, she set out to be an agency owner. Ms. Pommier moved to Coral Gables and opened an agency and prepared for the deluge she knew would follow. It did, she stayed, and thousands have made their careers off of her vision back in 1979.
The Film, Recording and Entertainment Council recognize Ms. Pommier for being the first to open a modeling agency in Miami in 1979. She recognized South Beach as a viable photo location, extolled its virtues, and challenged others to join her. She raised the bar of the fashion and beauty industry of this area, bringing it up to international standards.

Thanks to everyone who got back to me about Steve Newsome. Does anyone know where his grave is? I had dreams about willows -- isn't there a Willowbrook Cemetery? It's the only cemetery name I know in Westport. Maybe I carried that with me too. Maybe he's somewhere else. Perhaps I should go find him. Got help? (To all those who asked about my big sister, Michele, you can find her at -link-) Thanks again everyone. Denise

Does anyone know how Steve Newsome ('66) passed away? I heard he was killed in a motorcycle accident while he was still in college.

STAPLES PLAYERS REUNION May 24, 2009
Greetings Staples Players alumni and friends of Staples Players!
As you may or may not know, 2009 marks Staples Players' 50th birthday! We are excited to announce a special event we are planning to celebrate this great organization and bring together as many Staples Players alums as possible. We hope you will mark your calendar and save the date of Sunday, May 24th, 2009. This is the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, which we chose so that people would take advantage of the long weekend and come to Westport. The event will take place at Staples and will feature musical numbers, stories, photos and video from past Players productions.
Please email StaplesPlayers50@gmail.com if you are interested in hearing more about this event – how to get tickets, get involved, etc. Please include your graduation year, email address, what shows you were involved with and what role you had in those shows (tech, pit, cast – if so, what roles played).
We will offer more information about this exciting event in coming weeks – for now, we hope that you forward this message on to your high school friends and start to make your travel plans. Please see below for how you can help us.
We are very much looking forward to this exciting event – help us spread the word!
Happy New Year, Staples Players
Things we are interested in hearing from you – please respond if there is anything you can help with:
-Do you have a particularly funny and/or touching anecdote about your time in Players that you would like to share? If so, please email StaplesPlayers50@gmail.com. We are looking for some people to share stories during the celebration.
-Do you have a sibling that was also in Players that might be able to attend the event with you? We are looking to put together a number in the show celebrating siblings involved with Players and would like to include as many people as possible. Please note that this includes actors, pit and tech.
-Do you have photos or videos of past Players productions to share with us? If so, please email KerryLongPhoto@gmail.com. We are not only interested in possibly featuring them in the celebration but copying them (including transferring videos to DVD) to keep in the Staples Players archives.
-Are you currently a performer or involved in the arts?

We at Westporters.com just wanted to let you know that we've added a new feature which makes it very easy to communicate with your graduating class at Staples.
Now when you post on the bulletin board for your graduating class, the entry is sent by email to everyone from your graduating class whose profile is set to receive such messages. You can also post on the bulletin board of any other graduating class at Staples.
This should make it fast and easy to let others know important information, to request information from others, or to set up reunions or other activities.
We hope this new feature will be helpful to you.
Regards,
Customer Service at Westporters.com
